But I don't give up because I used to be a PC gamer. I set up the controls and then go about tuning the graphics and such to see what this iMac can do. I push it hard at xp native and 2X AA, keeping filtering to zero I guess I don't know what that is , setting up medium bodies, wall shoot effect and all else at normal instead of low or off.

In the first training set I am at FPS. In the first mission on the boat I am around 30 FPS. Of course I remember the game on the PS3 and loved it and so I also like on my Mac, but it did crash hard with a repeating sound that required a hard restart of my Mac, but otherwise it's what I remember and I will enjoy playing it again mouse style. That said, it am finding it actually nicer to play it with a controller on a game console, so I don't miss the PC gamer in me at all. But COD4? Works well enough.

It's crashed hard once taking down my computer, and it required a typical bullcrap installation procedure typical of PC games that I remember funny I did not have to authorize the console version or enter in a dumb arse CD Key on the PS3. What's weird is that I think my dual core iCore 5 3. Plus the Cell processor has more "cores" than the iCore 5 and it is running a 3.

After a quick search it looks like the PS3 is more powerful hardware than this iMac Core i5 but a significant margin The PS3 version is a p native game so maybe p on the Mac version is not coded as well as on the PS3 version console version so my iMac is doing well at FPS all things considered.

I didn't ever play call of duty three, but a I played one and two. In this game, they have grenade launchers, night vision goggles, and now you can throw a grenade back at the person who threw it at you. The guns are cool and the missions are unique, including the gunner on a helicopter and a bomber in an airplane. The graphics are great on the Mac and the sound is perfect. The one problem is that the intros and services before each mission take forever, and you can't exit the game and pick up exactley where you started.

You have to start at the checkpoint,and you have to watch the intro. No pee breaks for you. Despite all that, get the game. When I saw it was available for my new iMac, I had serious doubts whether it would be worth the money. This game costs as much as a Playstation 3 game, but I decided to take a gamble and bought it through Amazon.

Consoles like the Playstation and xBox are great graphically, because they are dedicated machines. That's all they do. However, I've always preferred gaming on a computer because I believe FPS first person shooters feel more natural with the keyboard and mouse controls than with the console's controller. Macs in the past were never touted as the greatest gaming machines. But the fact that Apple has switched to Intel processors and that this game is mentioned on their website [ I've tried using the "Optimal System Settings" and also tried maxing out the settings.

I don't see much lag until I try going all the way to x resolution. Backing off one notch to x does the trick.

The game is beautifully done. To my surprise, even the "Optimal" setting looks good and plays well! I'm using a iMac Gameplay is fun and plays like a movie. This game is fast and responsive, with no long load times on my machine. Quick in, quick out. I've yet to experience any crashes, freezes or other problems.
