I have never been able to make one update since they changed to Garmin Express. Not one, for month and months. I have tried everything. In respect to previous versions which let you backup and restore, as well as save favourites and transfer favourites between devices, this has all disappeared.
I hate this version. I also disliked the fact that this version automatically defaulted to download all updates available. This meant the update I did not yet want to install automatically downloaded. I really dislike it when they force one to use a purchased update earlier than one wanted to.

On my Mac mini, playing around and getting v annoyed I eventually uninstalled the latest version of Mapinstall and downloaded the one you recommend without uninstalling Basecamp. At the moment the map transfer seems to work most of the time, not always but mostly. At least it works sometimes! Keep up the great work and lets hope Garmin rectify Mapinstall. Hi Nick, you need to make sure to select maps by holding the mouse button and dragging over the WHOLE area you need — on the outside only contours or only map will stand over for some distance noticeable by lighter shading when selected in MapInstall.
Also make sure never to select by single clicking — then you only get either maps or contourlines. You must be logged in to post a comment.

Yes it still works if you know what to do - just note that it does not check any maps installed - so do not send maps twice. Also it cannot like MapInstall overcome the 4GB limit by splitting up maps that you are sending. Else of course it cannot correctly show the contourlines - but sending maps will work.
