However, you must always restart with the USB cable plugged in. If you unplug the cable, El Capitan loses the connection and plugging it back in does not work.

Maybe another manufacturers USB will work, but I tried an older Staples one with the Insignia power cable, because they were both the same. Both the Insignia and Staples one didn't work. So, I'd go more for the USB 2.

I got a message from Hercules themselves through tech support and they said that it's an Apple issue and they are working on a fix, but they did not specific when.
