What makes such game great is multiplayer. In order multiplayer to be great you need as many people online as possible. That affects directly the hype , expansions , patches , healthy economy in game , mods and so many other things to mention. Now with diablo 3 already out and most probably purchased from every single action RPGer fan out there I dont see how or why someone purchase Torchlight 2 also when already he is on D I hope the game do well but Im worried. Last I heard it got pushed back, which is probably for the better.

Polish up the game and also release it after D3. I think Diablo III is a little overhyped, as with all other big games to come out. But I do think hope it will end up being an actual great game! Though Diablo III is at the forefront of that list easily. Even if D3 is half the game that D2 was it will still be something amazing.

If Torchlight comes after D3 I think thats better, people will be in a mood for these kind of games. For me Ill be getting both day one, Diablo2 is one of my fav games of all time so many hours spent on battle. As for trochlight2, I liked what I played of torchlgiht1, it had alot of good ideas, just was missing coop. They have been giving a few updates here and there on the official site.

They said they have finished all the content in the game, but the last 2 acts they are still polishing. They plan to do a small friends and family beta. Then some last minute bug fixing before release. It will only be released on their website and Steam on day one with other digital download services and retail coming later.

  • Mac port and Xbox port are up in the air depending on if they decide to switch to the MMO after this or continue with the sequel expansion. I preferred to get Torchlight 2 before Diablo 3, but I am getting both games at launch. They will have very different gameplay. Torchlight 2 is very much a reimagining of Diablo 2.

    A number of small improvements to the game but basically the same. Traditional attributes and skill trees with 5 new classes. They took a card from Diablo 3 though because each class has a unique resource in addition to mana. Diablo 3 on the other hand is quite a bit different compared to Diablo 2. The only thing that is similar is the lore and story. Everything else gameplay and mechanics is pretty much different. If it were in the wrong hands or publisher this would have been rushed out the door before D3. AzatiS I liked original alot I'm hotly anticipating Torchlight II, particularly for co-op play, and hope it does well on release.
