My apple mac says not charging

Most likely your Charger I was trying a few things before the SMC and somehow it worked when I unplug both the magsafe and the main plug and it seems to be charging again. The port didn't look especially dirty beforehand—just a little buildup—but I could tell a little difference visually after I "swabbed" out any sign of gunk. In case anybody else is interested in the unorthodox method, I used a tiny twig with the end broken off so it was soft with the exposed wood fiber. After rubbing a little, it compressed noticeably so I broke off the end again so that it was frayed a little and could get into the corners.

A toothpick would probably work similarly. There was no light on the magsafe plug.

Nov 8, 1: Thanks for the post and the comments. For me, the answer of "The field set" solved the problem. It didn't work, unplugging from both the socket and the magsafe either. After this I tried cleaning the magsafe port and plug with a toothbrush and plugged again, and "Voila" -saw the green than the red light again and it started getting charged. May 19, 4: I had the same message. Tried unplugging but it didn't work. Tried a new magsafe adapter and it did.
