While the upgrade didn't completely solve those problems I still see the spinning beach ball much more often than I would like, and for longer stretches than I would like , it did help matters enough that I can now bear to use the computer rather than constantly contemplate heaving the thing through the window.

Of course, they're so expensive I couldn't afford a decent one. One person found this helpful. I'm also using Windows 7 64 bit on that Mac and worked perfectly too. The performance improvement is noticeable since I now have 4 more times the amount of memory I had and the price is very good.

I really recommend this upgrade. Note that this is not a kit of two memory modules. I received this literally in less than 24 hours and took five min to replace myself. Remember not to touch any copper tabs anywhere And never touch copper tabs of RAM either. Push left and right plastic tabs to the left and right respectively and old RAM will pop up. I've update my system from All system updates have been flawless with this RAM.
Kingston memory modules are some of the best modules made for quality and durability. In this case the wrong memory was sent to me so I had to seek another replacement locally, but the price of this was outstanding and the warranty a lifetime warranty. I would recommend it highly and I try to use Kingston memory whenever I do an upgrade on a computer. Fantastic upgrade for my MacBook Pro. Easy install and no issues what so ever.
So easy that a couple years later I bought another to max out my MBP. My machine is faster booting, loading Adobe CS and surfing. Not certain why others have had failures. Since I use my laptop for not just basic work related computing I needed the memory maxed out. I do Photoshop on it and with the extra memory it makes processing photos much quicker than with the base 4GB. Along with Aperture the memory helps me process faster everything faster. This was a great price. Wanted to upgrade a new purchase of a "refurbished" Macbook Pro model.
