Broadcom crystal hd card mac mini
You may have an inexpensive option by using a bit version of Plex and swapping out the wireless card.

If the machine is otherwise working you could replace the internal wireless card with a Broadcom Crystal HD. This solution takes a little bit of work to put together but is ultimately cheaper than getting a whole new computer. I actually tried unsuccesfully to do this several years ago. I got a local shop to remove the wifi card and install the Crystal HD in my machine.
Unfortunately I could never get it to work, and it seems that the card I purchased is the wrong one there are two almost identical Crystal HD models. The card is still in there but it doesn't do anything. If anybody can point out to me the correct model to buy shipping to UK if possible , and explain step-by-step how to get it working, I might have another go at it.

If I remember correctly it only works with Snow Leopard nothing newer , right? You can run up to a t cpu and 3. Just updated My mini to a t 3.

CrystalHD install question
First off, with my setup, things worked flawlessly. Installing the card was a breeze. Using the Kb on the Broadcom card, I installed the driver and kext without a problem minor peeve You take it on faith that the kext is enabled. I then installed the svn xbmc file on top of my existing xbmc installation. Again, no problems. Where did I spend most of my time? Only then was my ATV able to connect to the internet and dl the iTunes movie library previews, though the lan was readily accessible.
