In May Time Machine failed to back-up to new 2TB drive - could access drive and file structure but no back-up. Would work again after Mac reboot only to stop backing up within a day. Too late to return to Amazon so stuck with a bad product. I see the 'for Mac's' is left off the Amazon title. It is not compatible with Mac's, certainly not the latest operating system.

This works perfectly for my mac with the time machine program as a back up for all of my files. After looking at the reviews, I made the choose to purchase this and I'm glad I did.

I have the 2TB version and it's plenty of space for me and my files. Great buy and easy to use. Comes with cable to connect to laptop as well! I purchased this product January and it already stopped working. My Mac is unable to back up my data and says the "disk can't be repaired".

The longest distance this device had to travel was from my desk drawer to my desktop, never dropped it, always properly ejected it. You are a savior really. Thanks again. I needed to get some data off a Mac that wouldn't boot in any sort of graphical mode, due to GPU issues apparently a known issue that happens to a lot of Macs so I wanted to copy off the most important data before handing it off to Apple. I'm a developer, so I'm comfortable with the command line, but this is stuff I've never touched I'm not exactly the sysadmin type! Thanks so much for the detailed instructions!

Open Seagate Dashboard by double-clicking the Seagate Dashboard icon on the desktop. In MacOS, this icon will be in the Applications folder. Click the Manage tab. Click the Test button Note: For a more thorough test of your external hard drive, we suggest using SeaTools for Windows. A pass or fail message from Seagate Dashboard could simply indicate other issues which do not warrant a hard drive replacement.

It is suggested to close all other applications before running hard disk diagnostic, in order to keep the drive focused on SeaTools as much as possible. Please keep the computer fully powered on. Power management controls may need to be suspended while doing very long tests. Make sure you have the computer plugged in by power supply to a main wall socket. Click on the Start or Windows icon button in the bottom left corner of your Windows desktop.

Select Control Panel. Select Power Options. Select the Drives to Test.
