Anyone not abiding by the license terms can do it easily, and this just restricts legitimate users.

Yes it's very weird to me that FF still comes with only a single, single-machine license instead of at least allowing two machines so people can work on a desktop and while mobile. It discourages from using FF to the full extent. I like when Filter Forge is offered here on Daz cause I can save up store credit throughout the year to buy it.

Kinda like a savings account. It's a bit harder to do it through them cause money is always questionable. In the past I just upgraded every so many years. I need to learn how to do filters better so I can put them up for download on their site so I can earn free or lifetime updates.

So as I can see you have 4 workarounds: You buy one Filter Forge license and use it on your laptop. Filter Forge works slower than on desktop. You buy two Filter Forge licenses and use them on both laptop and desktop.

If all you want is to make normal maps, then AwesomeBump can convert height maps and is free or the Gimp plugin works okay. Both would be easier to use than filter forge which is more versatile and can produce a lot more varied results.

One thing to keep in mind is that just running an image through a normal map generator or filter will more often then not produce a less than desirable effect Or use an image generating software like Filter Forge that is capable of generating a normal map in addition to the diffuse and or full color image. Is it just me, or are the normal maps from Filter Forge coming out backwards to the ones DS uses? In other words, inverting the green channel is needed - easy enough.
