Mac mini stuck in power save mode
It was unresponsive spin wheel was taking too long and after rebooting using all methods mentioned above the load screen appears with a blinking "? Honestly I'm at a loss now and need some help reinstalling OS X. I suggest using the cable.

I'm really shocked that Apple , has done this to thes MacBook Pro 's I mean I super spec'd mine, and update it last weekend, needed to use it and got this same error 'the white screen of death', this isn'the first time I have experienced such with an apple device, I mean I have 2x Apple tvs, a MacBook Pro 3x iPads, 3xapple watches, and I'm shocked that we as the avid Apple community need to solve an apple problem which looks like they think it to be underrated.
My entire family on both sides were introduced to Apple, brothers,sisters,mother ,father, in-laws. Seriously I think Apple need to resolve this issue, as I expected more from them. You have consistently saved me! No matter what problem I have with my Mac laptop, I run your fixit suggestions and they always work!

It was super reliable, especially in remote areas but now all they care about is. I totally agree. I took my fully functioning MacBook Pro in to do a routine battery replacement. They took a long time so I called in.
Dell Monitor stuck in power saving mode.
They mailed the machine back to me. When I got it it was dead!!! They claimed water damage. My advice is to either have your name or something personal engraved on the top of your laptop or take the machine apart take good pictures of the inside of the machine before you take it to Apple Store. I am pretty sure I didn't get my very supped up top of the line machine back. The only way I can make sure now is to have the material inside the machine tested for my DNA.
Their customer support gets you to talk to them for hours even days. This really happened to me. My macbook pro suddenly freezed and when I restarted it, the white screen came up and I freeked out!! I tried the first 2 solutions it did not work! It showed up the white screen for 2 seconds but then it worked.

I have a macbook pro retina 13 inch and I am trying to use a Dell monitor as an external display. After some playing around, I finally got the macbook to recognize the external monitor.
But, the external monitor still shows nothing. The mac screen changed to a weird square shape that I guess is supposed to be the Dell screen? I'm guessing there is some kind of display setting I need to toggle, but I can't find it. Also, the mouse can go way off the screen on the right side, but nothing appears on the monitor still. If your converter is not plugged into a USB port it could be "converter". If that's not it and it sounds like your Mac does think it is connected to a second monitor so your converter may be just fine you could just be suffering from the extremely dumbed down Display System Preferences in the recent versions of OSX. Unfortunately converters like HDMI to VGA often wipe out the EDID information which can cause wacky results like your seeing often an out of bound signal and the monitor sleeping instead of showing you what you want to see.
There are many utilities that will give you more direct control over your displays and resolutions, but my favorite is this free little gem - Display Menu: You may have to fool around with resolutions and refresh rates to find the best one - or just look in the manual for the Dell monitor and find it's native resolution and max refresh rate and set it to it.
