Is there an article on this here? Also is the image you are trying to paste into the Folder icon a. If the image format is say TIFF, it might not work. If the folder is a system protected folder, you could create a Alias, place the Alias where you want to use it, and then change the icon for the Alias. I have both the picture and folder on my desktop.
