Since then, font management has been a daily battle. The SF6 auto-activation plug-ins were crashing my Adobe Creative Cloud programs left and right, so I turned those off and began manually activating fonts in SF6 as I needed them. Then, at some point, manually activating fonts resulted in SF6 freezing up and my being unable to manually activate anything. I again contacted Extensis, who told me to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the program, which I did, and that worked for about a day.

The plug-ins still needed to be deactivated and today SF6 started freezing up again when I tried to manually activate fonts. I've started to use Font Book again just so I can get some work done, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having these issues? Anyone having any luck with another program? Sep 18, I dropped them from my Graphic Art deploy builds years ago and just have everyone use a very streamline set in Font Book, they can add and remove if need be. If you don't get too demanding with Font Book it very smooth on the integration and interoperability of Adobe Creative. If you need hundreds of fonts loaded at any given moment Font Book starts showing it's limits and it gets worse as you demand more out of it.

That could well be and likely is the root of the problem.

Having more than one font manager on any system at a time is a guaranteed headache inducer. It is very important to not just remove the Font Book app from the Applications folder, but to follow the steps to boot into Safe Mode to clear out its database.

To make sure you're running a completely clean system in regard to fonts , then also clear all font cache data. Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command.
