Ati radeon hd 2600 xt driver mac pro

Furthermore, this card is specifically named as being compatible with Open CL, so we know that support for it in Snow Leopard is promised. With both hardware compatibility and software compatibility reasonably established, it is a fair assumption that this vdeo card will work with your computer under Snow Leopard.

Model Name: MacPro2,1 Processor Name: In other words, even if you could get one to run a display, you would likely wind up running into bandwidth problems down the line. Okay, got it solved. Thanks again for your help Chris. This extra information certainly points to potential damage of the display or cables.

However, the only way to be sure would be through the steps I mentioned above. Do you think it is possible that the DVI cable or DVI input on the monitor could have been damaged when my x fried?

Everything was working via DVI with my old ATI x card a few days ago, but one day I started up the computer and both monitors stayed black. I took a look at the card and found the air intake was clogged with fuzz, so I guess I fried the card. I wish I had thought to clean the vents. There is an issue with the DVI cable. There is an issue with the display. There is an issue with the card. Try a different DVI Cable. Try a different DVI display with the card. However, there may be the unlikely case in which there seems to be nothing wrong with the individual components.

Doing this should set it to something generic, allowing you to set the display correctly.

The compatibility of the cards as listed here is not processor-dependent, it is tied to the motherboard itself. Ruminator wrote: If you would like a copy of the driver installer, email me. I too have the MP 1,1 build, and am very interested in how you got this to work. My email is danm. The ATI Radeon is a far better option for those kinds of applications: While the GT happens to be just a little faster for OpenGL games — the is faster for the Core Accelerated video functions such that Motion, Aperature, etc use. Can you use the video card from a newer model Mac Pro?

As for the driver, I thought you had to get a retail copy of an OS to get all possible drivers at once. Do you use Lion? What the user hobbled through yesterday on was an early system's video card, which appears to have been the GeForce GT Since that worked, despite it not being listed as compatible, that's what I bought her as a replacement. Today the person is back in the office and needed their video card back.

As a result the user is hobbling along on an early MacBook Pro. Fortunately, despite the ATI video being out, the thing still boots, and people can go get their Quark licenses, and the users who use the machine as a file server are able to get to the shares. In the process I had an incredibly bad experience with Apple's "Geniuses".

I unable to get the store on the phone, with their voicemail menus ending up directing me out to the mothership in Cupertino. I wondered if it had been extended.

It hadn't been extended, of course. Then I explained ot the guy that I had been trying to get in touch with people at the store to see if they had the parts I needed. He let me know that to get a person in the store I had to say "representative" to the first 2 prompts. The person at the store had the unfortunate job of letting me know that the Apple store doesn't sell video cards to customers, but if I wanted to bring in the machine, their Genius would quote me a new card, and I could pick up the system 3 to 5 days later after they had installed the card.

The guy who told me how to get through the voicemail at the store should have saved me the trouble and frustration and just told me that the Apple store can't do anything faster than days, and that they wouldn't sell me the video card. I am just simply amazed at how bad Apple's customer service is. I will continue doing everything in my power to let people know how shoddy their overpriced hardware is and that there are LOTs of alternatives that work as well as or better than anything twice the cost of the Apple product.

To my knowledge the only exception is Final Cut pro which they bought up and stopped Windows versions of in order to corner that market, and their iLife crap. Pardon the vent. It just shouldn't be that hard to get a video card replacement when the manufacturer has 2 stores in my town. Like I said, I'll continue to do what I can to keep those pretentious jerks any more of my or my company's money. Dell WX TypeGraphics Card.
