Canon wft pairing mac firewall

What's supported and what works can be different. I believe that Windows 95 supported USB ports, though as I recall actually getting then to work on any consistent basis was a struggle. I seem to recall giving up on it myself. It's always possible the rat's nest of services etc. Just because it works one day doesn't mean it will always work the next, especially if Windows has updated itself or some other program is requesting some Windows service that interferes. Good luck with help from Canon! Bob, Thanks for your feedback. Strangely enough the Windows Music Player is playing up or not playing, more accurately so there could be something in that suggestion.

I may just uninstall it and see where that takes us. Despite a couple of exchanges by phone and e-mail with Canon Technical Support, we are no further forward. I uninstalled ALL Canon software on my p. I reset all settings on the 6D - Still the same problem. I also disconnected and restarted the router Any further suggestions would be most welcome, short of sending it back to Canon! An update: They responded to my pleas for help with the following advice: We'd commend you to check your PC's network setting and make sure UPnP - also called network discovery function is turned on so it can recognize other devices in the same network like the camera.

To find how to enable UPnP function, please refer to: Unchecking those limitations, and we were back in business with p. I hope this may help others struggling with a less than totally helpful Canon help desk. Incidentally, I commend camerainthepost. Took me 2 days to figure that out. You just need to buy a WFT wireless file transmitter for your camera to use that. Am I the only one who read the manual? Hope that helped, your one and only john smith. John Smith, I am not sure which version of the 6D you possess, but mine came with WiFi built-in to it.

It has been working properly ever since Camerainthepost supplied the solution in February. I understand they do or did make a 6D version without WiFi, for places like North Korea, maybe, which is presumably why you are referring to the "need to buy a WFT". You don't, provided you have the regular 6D with in-built WiFi. Still having issues, tried the above suggestion, been on the Canon website. I have no problem with the 6D working with the Android App. But on my Windows 8 system, I got it to work through my router one time.

Had an issue getting it to communicate through the firewall and the program said it would make a fix, once it did it connected but so slow. After I was done my 50 Mbs sec high speed Internet dropped to about 50kbs, not only for me but for every device on my wireless network including my wife's MAC Book Pro. I recall dialup modem speeds from years ago and that is how bad it was. After a day of trying to figure out what happened, going over the router setting and thinking it must have gone bad or my cable modem went bad, we noticed every time I shut off my computer the Internet speeds went back up for all other devices.
