Process running on port mac
I have added another possibility. Do you happen to have an HP LaserJet printer? Thanks Mark!
Finding the pid listening on a specific port on Mac OS X
For whatever reason, after restarting my computer, the lsof commands were outputting nothing, and now they are. Now, all 3 of the of the lsof commands are working and I can identify the process id and kill it with: Where is the process id. The name of the process is "VBoxHeadless". If I get more information on why it was not working previously I will report back.
I have no printer attached.
Fast and quick solution: And paste below code in it. Save file. Go to terminal and write stop or any port U can write this command stop port from anywhere in directory. I tried the permanent solution but got 'Permission denied' when attempting to run the script.

The -9 option could result in the socket not being closed properly. The process may be killed but another listener will forked in its place. I needed to run this command sudo lsof -i: Andriy Sylka Andriy Sylka 21 1. Other addresses for localhost not scanned: Yiling Yiling 1, 1 17 You can also use the Activity Monitor to identify and quit the process using the port. How would I do that? Mac OS X: find the program running on a port
So what we have to do to get around this is to first wrap the command in a function and then create an alias to that function:. You can now use pidport to find the pid of the process listening on port Slightly simpler, there is no need for the alias. Give the shell function the name you actually want, and run it directly from the command line. The result can easily be used to kill the process. No menu assigned!
