I think the router needs to reboot for this to take effect. From there it should just work. Frennzy Thank you very much for the reply. Then I did a system reboot. Also powered down the router and turned back on. When it came back up, I verified that it was set to Home-AP. Nothing changed. I cannot get out of the router to the Internet.

Password Recovery on MikroTik Router by re-installing the RouterOS

Did you reboot your cablemodem after hooking up the mikrotik to it? You might have to do so because the mikrotik has a different MAC. Other than that, let's do some basic troubleshooting. Does your laptop still get an IP, correct subnet mask, and default gateway? Can you ping 8. If not, run a tracert to 8.

techTM : Mikrotik Router Basic Configuration with Winbox

Powered off, waited, then powered on modem and router. Ipconfig listed addresses as Tried to call in WinBox after many attempts, would not connect. Changed Local Connection to be WinBox connected immediately. I sincerely appreciate all of your help.

Please don't abandon. It might be best to start from scratch. I have noticed that the default configurations of older versions of RouterOS can slightly differ from new versions.

If you directly upgrade from older version to newer, the older configs are retained and this could cause an issue. If there is no IP Address, click "Renew. Next, make sure that "Firewall Router" is checked might be already checked by default.
