Deleting user account mac frozen

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I had a similar issue. Anyway, I created a new admin account signed into the new one and ensuring the other admin account was logged out I renamed the original admin account. I may have rebooted after this. Possibly after another reboot?!

I too hit this issue. The user i tried to delete and could not was named "admin". FileVault was not enabled. This was the first account created after installation. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Want to add to the discussion? Post a comment! Apr 12, I think I know where it went wrong Once is did the alt command esc I went back to delete the user again. It took about two minutes but went through fine. Page content loaded.

Oct 28, Hi Mendel, thank you for your fast response. I shall keep the mac going again overnight with sleep disabled, I do not wish to disturb the mac if it has not got stuck by doing a force quit. I do note that from browsing the drive, that the specific user account folders have been removed already. I shall let you know how things are tomorrow. Jul 16, 8: Thanks for the information. I had the same thing happen. I locked changes too soon.

I forced quit, saw that the user was gone out of Users. When I opened Sys Pref back up, the old user was gone. Nov 3, 1: I am wanting to delete this account.
