Wireless gamepad f710 driver mac

If you own a Mac and have a few games you would like to try, then you might also be interested in getting a gaming controller or two up and running with your system. While the Mac's keyboard and mouse ought to be enough for most purposes, having a dedicated gaming controller can give you the feel of playing with a gaming console. Of the game controllers available for home computers, only a few are officially supported on the Mac, but you can often get others, like those for the PS3, Wii, or Xbox, working just fine.

To use any of these controllers with your system, you will first need to connect it to your system physically, and then install a driver package to make use of the controller's inputs. For factory-supported devices like the Logitech F Gamepad and the Belkin Nostromo SpeedPad , drivers are available from their manufacturers; however, for unsupported devices like Wii Remote, PS3, and Xbox controllers, you will have to use a third-party driver package. The easiest of these unsupported remotes to configure is likely the Xbox controller, which can be physically connected directly via USB or with a relatively cheap receiver for wireless Xbox controllers.

If you have a PS3 controller, you'll need to follow a quick procedure to establish a connection to your Mac. First, connect the controller to your Mac, and then open the Bluetooth system preferences and make sure Bluetooth is both on and discoverable. Next, hold the PS button on the controller for a few seconds, then unplug the USB cable, and the controller should appear in the Bluetooth system preferences and be available for use in a number of games and programs.

A Wii Remote can also be connected via Bluetooth. Once the gaming controller is connected, you can use one of several software driver packages to configure its inputs. The first is Joystick Mapper , with which you should be able to configure most gaming controllers. The second is the Tattiebogle driver for Xbox controllers, which should work for both wired and wireless using the receiver noted above controllers. For Wii users, the program DarwiinRemote and the Wjoy driver should allow you to crudely connect and configure the motion-sensitive Wii Remote, but if you have trouble establishing a connection using these drivers in OS X These last tools are useful especially if you have a controller that only has driver support for Windows.

When connected to the Mac, the button inputs will be registered, and universal drivers like USB Overdrive should be able to recognize them and allow you to assign global or application-specific settings to them.

Not a big deal, it just makes the gamepad feel slightly smaller or different somehow in my hands than the Rumblepad 2, in spite of having the exact same dimensions. I'm sure I'll get over it. Edited and added at 2 months ownership: Range is good, but like Stephanie B has noted in her review, the gamepad randomly drops connection for a second or so occasionally. Whatever the problem is, it isn't an issue of 'range'. It only happens very infrequently for me, maybe 15 times in 2 months used daily for at least a half an hour a day. I'm not a 'professional' gamer, and the momentary spaz isn't enough to get me killed in the games I play or I'm good enough to recover from it , so it doesn't bother me as much as it probably will others.

But the problem does exist, and some people will find it to be an unacceptable annoyance and distraction from their gameplay. One button finally died on my Rumblepad 2, after 6 years or more of use. I sure hate to throw it away, but since I cannot find replacement rubber pads internal to fix it the only thing that's wrong , getting this as a complete replacement was certainly my next best option.

It's mostly used as a Dolphin emulator gamepad both machines as well as for GTA games on the Windows machines. For any Linux users, just letting you know that the F works with Linux, too. The controller is very comfortable to hold and has a good weight. The wireless drops out for a second or two sporadically.

In the time it takes to reconnect, whatever buttons you were pressing, will not work or will continue to be held down. So, if you were pressing up-left on the D-pad, your character will keep moving up-left. This is very frustrating. Reading other reviews, I found that I was not the only one who has the same problem. I was at cm from the receiver when I experience the problem, so I was not out of range.

I do not recommend buying this controller.

How to connect game controllers to your Mac

It's a much better controller. Feels terrible in your hands. Barely works even when just a few feet away from the receiver. Randomly stops taking button input. I would not recommend this controller. I wish I got my money back when I had the chance. The form factor of this gamepage is, IMHO, the best. No matter what game I play it is comfortable and I can find a good button arrangement.

It's a little heavy, which can be slightly uncomfortable when playing for a long time. There is a button that seems to do nothing but make the pad rumble, which is rather useless. It works with absolutely no hassle, and if many of the reviews on here are an indication, maybe even better than on Windows. Using on Windows 10 media PC in decent size living room with no issues. I bought this one to replace an aging Logitech F wired controller that I loved and have not been disappointed.
