Mike How does this make you feel? I used a wooden toothpick and had to poke about with it quite a bit -- not wanting to break anything -- but eventually the red light went out and I had internal speakers again.

Feb 25, 6: MacBook has no sound output in response to dymar. I have the same problem occasionally on my white MB running I've always fixed it by poking the toothpick from my Swiss Army knife around in the headphone jack hole until the light goes out. Always seems to work although sometimes I have to repeat the process once or twice to get it to "take".

Not sure if this is directly related, but this happens often when I use Voila, the screen capture app, specifically when capturing computer sound output along with the video.
