Prior to Mac OS X Instead, Mac OS X Lion will stop attempting to authenticate and it will reject a correct login as though it is incorrect. The exact path on your workstation may differ slightly. Modify these commands as needed so that they include the path to your LDAP configuration plist.

I doubt that's the reason, but I'll try one more time from scratch, just to be sure. Aug 23, 7: Logged in with real username and wrong password. Uids and gids of users are correct and dscacheutil -configuration shows the correct servers, but the password is not verified.

DiskStation Manager
The user can authenticate against the LDAP server though. I have managed to link the LDAP account in Directory Utility, and do actually get a list of users in the "Directory Editor" but I have no idea how to actually propagate that into the system. In the Server app, no users appear in the User browser.
However, this server is not on the domain and I do not have domain or LDAP admin rights, so this authentication needs to happen without that. Can someone guide me into how to configure this? I've spent some time with Google, but either I'm searching for the wrong thing possible or none of the results help.
