If the list is blank, check that the access point is turned on and is broadcasting the SSID, and then see if the printer and the access point are within range for wireless communication.

Thanks for the various pointers. The MP Drivers for network wernt then able to find my printer. Then, a moment later, it was listed again. Remove the USB, and its still there - add the wireless printer. Well after hours of trying to install the Canon MP driver on her Mac book with snow leopard I finally figured it out!! I successfully had installed this driver on my MBP months ago, but couldn't remember exactly how I did it.
It took me hours the first time as it doesn't work as it's supposed to. The secret?? Go to your printer and fax settings in preferences. Make sure the printer is on 4. Select the default choice at the top of the window whether it is going to be the default or not This is the KEY!!!! Ciick add it should then come up with a dialogue and add the printer dialogue. I hope this helps save you many hours. I wrote them about this and they sent me a canned response to delete the existing stuff and re-install, which makes no difference.

It manage to do calibration but hangs while in the "Scanning" process. Printing is fine though.
Canon's helpdesk advised to use a USB2. Can anyone advise if I should actually buy this new cable to try? It is possible that a USB2. I might first try a bit of troubleshooting such as removing the printer device and all related software from your Mac, maybe create a new account on the computer, re-add the device, run software update, then see if you are able to scan NOTE you should not need to install the drivers above, and if you don't need them then I would stay away from them. If you still have trouble, try a new cable; you can always return it if it doesn't work depending on where you get it from.
Out of curiosity, what does it say when you select the printer in System Profiler hold Option and click on the apple menu. At least during installation: And maybe this is also required for normal use, like to see the supply levels -- but I don't see those on demand anyway, though the printer does warn me when ink or paper runs out. Connect through USB, to ensure the printer driver is installed.
For me, the printer showed and installed without any question. Select Printer Software.

As a last ditch effort I rang Canon and paid for a guy to tell me my printer isn't supported and that I should revert to The reality is that with this printer, all you actually have to do is re-run the CAPT v1. Look in your downloads folder or do a Spotlight search; otherwise download again. You'll need to reboot after reinstalling, but after that you should find that if you add a new printer you can select the LBP it will show "CAPT Driver" as the driver.
I've successfully printed photos from Aperture and text from TextEdit with this driver, so everything seems to working just as well as it did on The only remaining question is why on earth Canon's website and their own support staff don't know this and aren't passing the simple info on to their own customers!
