Mcculloch mac 110 carb settings

Jul 21, Messages: Hey there guys, I recently was given a Mac to fix for my father's friend. The saw is showing the usual signs of needing fuel lines and a carb kit and I'd rather take care of both while I have it out of the shell since it's such a bear to pull apart. My main problem is that I cannot find a way to remove the carburetor from the rest of the engine assembly.

I am going to assume the smaller top handle. You have to completely disassemble that little turd to get to the carb but you are correct that these saws are known for needing fuel lines and carb kits.

There is a couple bolts to get the whole front to come off, pull the fuel tank out and then several bolts to pull the whole engine out of the housing. If your saw has the Walbro carb you will be in luck since the kits are readily available but not the same case if you find a Zama carb inside.

There possibly might have three screws but anyway you have to take the coil loose first. Carburetors are pre-set by the manufacturer, but can fall out of adjustment after many hours of use.

Adjusting the needles that control the intake and mixture is not a job for the inexperienced. Unscrew and remove the main cover, air filter cover and air filter. Beneath these, you will see a metal plate covering the carburetor. Unscrew the plate and pull it off to reveal the carburetor and its three adjustment screws. If you are working with a tachometer, attach it according to manufacturer instructions. Turn both the high- and low-speed adjustment screws clockwise until they stop, but do not force them.

Turn each screw back one full turn and start the engine. Allow the engine to warm up for about five minutes. Measure the idle speed if using a tachometer.

Ideally, it should read approximately 2, RPM. If you choose not to use one, use the screwdriver to turn the idle screw as high as possible without engaging the clutch.

If the chains start spinning, turn the screw back until it stops. Adjust the low-speed screw using the screwdriver.



Turn it slightly back and forth and listen for the engine sounds to change. On one end, it will surge heavily.

On the other end, it will nearly die. Do the same proceedure as low. Screw it in till drop them out till the RPM is maxed out then back in a half a turn. Try reving the engine several times and it shouldn't hesitate. If it does, open the H valve a small amount. Go back to idle after adjusting H valve and make sure the engine still idles smoothly or you'll need to re-adjust it again.

After it's running well then adjust idle speed. Should be set a little fast but not enough that the chain turns while idling.
