On screen keyboard mac shortcut

If not, then are there any other applications that aid the disabled to type? Hey everyone!!! Has anyone figured this out yet? We bought this mac today with the assurances that an on screen keyboard came with it. My son is disabled, and needs the on-screen keyboard to function fully in order to do his schoolwork. It would be difficult without the shift key for capital letters and question marks.
