His rhyme scheme on this verse is so insane. Everyone snaps but Earl is once again on another level. These next couple years of Mac Miller posts are going to be really hard on me. I was listening to this album after finally becoming a fan of Mac after Watching Movies. I really appreciated a hip hop artist trying to experiment and putting out the music he wanted. The production is great on thisz. Might be a hot take but this is probably my favourite Mac project, along with Faces.

I revisit it maybe once or twice a year. I love how dark the production is and how, legitimately, shocking most of the lyrics are. Mac always said Big L was what inspired him to rap, but I never really got that until this project came out. Danger Zone. His use of auto tune takes some time getting used to, but you come to appreciate it as the album grows on you. Best song is by far is Bill.

Great album overall. Maan I love the vibe of this. Mac was always good with encompassing other rapper's influences, especially when it came to wacky lines you find all over this thing. Grandpa Used To Carry a Flask definitely a highlight for me. Mixing the different voices to morph into each other like that Bill, but especially Grandpa Used to Carry a Flask, which I think has a strong case for being his best ever work. I think it's very impressive how he was able to capture that grim, gloomy sound without being consumed by it.

So many artists have "darkness" as this huge part of their identity, and it just becomes tiresome, too dramatic. But here there's enough flexibility and variation that you aren't immediately bored, creates an effective atmosphere but still leaves room for variation. I wouldn't say they have. I thought it was a cool but not amazing project back then, and I still feel that way. Very favourably.

Delusional Thomas - Mac Miller

It's quirky enough to distance itself from the crowd, sincere enough that the horrorcore lyrics don't sound ridiculous, it's concise, and I think it's held up by 2 great songs. If Stolen Youth is under consideration, then I think that jumps above this one as well. This mixtape is a classic Mac Miller is the goat. Only Mac Miller could bring you a new project every year or less and keep it sounding good. Favorite track on this is Bill. I go back to it still pretty regularly.

I think one of the reasons I've grown to like this project more and more bc it was around this time Mac's sound bc really mature and refined. I think him exploring all the topics on the project in the very crass and explicit way he did with a character that he separated from himself probably allowed him to be even more honest on Faces. This might be on the lower end of Mac projects in terms of production. Not bc it was bad but just in terms of variation of sound really. I've always enjoyed this project when I listen to it, but I don't find myself going back to it that often- probably just because I'm usually not in the right mood for it.

I haven't listened to it in over a year, but the OG normal pitched voice version of Bill still gets plenty of rotation from me, and I remember liking Grandpa Used to Carry a Flask a lot. I remember I saw him live just after this came out but on the Watching Movies tour and he was like "hold on a second guys I'm gonna bring out a friend of mine" and then came back with like a bloody shirt or something and played a couple tracks from this tape.

Very clear Em and OF influence but I don't mind. The beats fit the theme just right, very creepy and atmospheric. Mac's abstract, multisyllabic rapping is great on this one too, there were some songs where I swore he could fit in with guys like Earl and DOOM. I love this mixtape and obviously see a lot of polarizing opinions on his voice but personally I like it a lot. Also the Star Room with the delusional Thomas character on it is dope. I was so late on Mac that this was the first project i ran through from him i know.. I remember i listened to this project the day it came out went I went through a phase of downloading every new mixtape that dropped.

I really fucked with this project. I was in high school, smoking, and driving around in the dark while it was cold and it just seemed to match the tone of what up to. Jesuits, Grandpa, and Bill were my standouts.

Really liked Vertigo too. Wouldnt really skip anything on this project, although the tone is the same the beat selection varied so I didnt feel that it became repetitive. Listened few years and got a kick out of how dark some of those lines were and how much thought I didnt give them.

The range of what Mac could do will always be a trip. Definitely my favorite Mac Miller project, though Faces comes in a close second. Coming up as a huge Tyler The Creator fan, this kind of music that Delusional Thomas was really sat well with me and I still listen to it till this day. Favorite songs have to be Bill because of Bill and The Jesuits.

The whole thing is cool but not amazing to me. Mostly love it because it fits in Mac's peak for me. The entire stretch around Watching Movies, this, his production on things like Stolen Youth and then Faces just blew me away. I didn't like Mac before any of this and I still listen to those projects often, especially Faces. Best songs are Grandpa Carried a Flask and Bill. Bill is my fave by far though. Earl goes the fuck in. Love the way he comes in. I know most people hate this tape because of the voice, but it honestly made things better for me.

It really emphasized that this is that fucked up part of your mind. The production on here is sinister yet there are so many that just bang really hard, like the Jesuits, Grandpa Used to Carry a Flask and plenty others. Grandpa Used to Carry a Flask in particular will always stick with me.

Mac is one of my favorite artists and while I love the Delusional Thomas feature on The Star Room, an entire project of that chipmunk voice is virtually unlistenable to me. Not in any way saying it's bad, the lyricism is incredible but the pitched up vocals are just tough to fully enjoy. I really hope it grows on me eventually. I feel it, theres a lot of edits on youtube of people working the pitch up to his normal tone. While some just dont sound right some are a good listen and come out sick.

You should check em out! This tape introduced me to Mac. Still love it. The songs still flow really well, and you could really feel the emotion that Mac had, it feels really raw, and you can really tell that Mac put his heart into it. My favorite track has to be Bill. He and Earl really work well together, and their lyricism is probably my favorite out of any of their other songs.

The project itself has aged quite well, and I find myself coming back to listen quite often. I personally like this album more than his future projects. This mixtape is not for the squeamish and definitely is not for those that only like Top 40 rap. For everyone else, it's hip hop noir at its finest. With only ten short songs, it's just the right amount of time to keep the listener fully engaged. But hidden behind those flaws is a good mixtape.
