Out of Space - Apple Battery Info. The old Iomega backup program was a PPC coded app. That drive does not need the backup program or software to work. Just open Disk Utility and reformat it. After that it should be recognized by your Mac if the drive is not defective. Reformatting will cause you to lose the data that's on it, but at least you'll have the drive back useful to you again.

If it was for backups, that loss may not be that critical to you as you can immediately make a full backup after formatting and mounting and start a new set of backups.

Couple of last things to check before reformatting: Open Disk Utility and see if the iomega is listed in the left side panel. If it is, highlight it and then click on Mount. If it's not there, then try a different USB cable to see if that's failed. Make sure both ends are fully seated in the sockets. If another USB cable doesn't fix it, make sure the drive is actually spinning.

Are there any lights on it to show power is on? It's really rare for a drive not to mount, or be visible to Disk Utility. If the quick scan can't find your lost files, go to scan again with "All-Around Recovery" mode. It will take more time than the quick scan but search more files. When recovering files, don't save them on the same partition where you lost them before.

Choose another partition or disk to store them.
