Vegan mac and cheese recipe no nuts

OMG this is the best vegan mac and cheese recipe I have ever found!! I like to make it without baking it in the oven for a quick weeknight dinner. Thanks Caitlin for your awesome recipes! Hey Caitlin! I just made this but I messed up the measurements and had to adjust a little.. I think it still came out great! This was so good! I tried another vegan mac and cheese and it was blech, but this was great!

I did add a tiny bit of hot sauce, but I just prefer my cheese sauce with a bit of kick, and I felt that with the hot sauce, it did make it a bit more realistic. I recently switched to a dairy-free diet for health reasons, but I really do love cheese, so I was skeptical about this recipe. It turned out very good! Some of my family members tried it and liked it, even though they eat dairy.

I did go into this expecting to get something that tasted a lot like Kraft. Im not vegan, but this recipe tasted so much better than I expected. No, they should be pretty smooth! I love it on its own and have made it quite a few times, but I decided to make it as the base of a chili mac last night. I just added a healthy amount of chili powder to the cheese sauce and dumped 2 cans of chili bean mix in with the pasta — turned out amazing!! Oven temperature?

Depending on whether you print landscape or portrait you lose either the tahini or the nutritional yeast in the topping. I made this the first time from my computer and the second time from a printed copy only to realize later that I never used the tahini that was sitting on my counter. The taste was a bit odd at first, but it grew on me.

No one said anything about avoiding Mac and Cheese, though. A Few Final Thoughts: This recipe is easily made gluten free by using GF pasta, but if you can tolerate gluten, feel free to use any pasta that you desire. This recipe is best eaten fresh right out of the oven and will dry out with time.

Add extra Salt to taste, if desired. Drain your Pasta, but do not rinse it. Return it to the pot and pour the Cheese Sauce over it, stirring until well-combined.

Bake at for minutes, then broil on HI for minutes, until the top is golden brown and crispy. Carefully remove from the oven and serve immediately, topping with more Crumb Topping as desired. Often cashews are used as a base for vegan cheese sauces and although I love cashew cheese sauce , I wanted this recipe to be accessible to everyone. So, as well as being nut-free it can easily be made gluten-free too just by using gluten-free macaroni. Start by throwing all the sauce ingredients into a blender and blending until nice and smooth. I love my Blendtec for this???? Then comes the yummy, crispy topping. It takes two minutes to blitz it all up in a blender, then spread it over all the cheesy goodness and bake until golden and bubbling.
