Gracias por leer. The sessions are recoreded and will be posted to the Fedora youtube channel. Day 1. Introduction from Joe B. Thanks sponsors! Keep in mind though, Flock is a confernece that is run and led by contributors - for contributors. I can tell there was a ton of work done behind the scenes to make this event happen. Matt covered some of the numbers that show Fedora is gaining steam in the cloud and developer space, among many others.
He also talked about a few of the major goals for There are different ways to configure a Fedora Atomic host to use the ecs agent. We need to follow up on this to make sure we optimize the process and make it easier for users to start running containers on a Fedora Atomic host on AWS. David mentioned many things during his presentation - and as an ops guy, some of them were very interesting. Particularly the autoscaling, storage attachment, scheduling and integration with Fedora Atomic hosts capabilities.

Great session. Thomas set the context by talking about how Red Hat got involved with containers. Then Thomas moved into the meat of the presentation talking about everything from kernel namespaces to SELinux, cgroups, tips and tricks, etc Takeaways, image provenance matters, don't just download any image from anywhwere and expect good things. Keep SELinux enabled.
Production containers matter, run them in a supported fashion on production supported hosts. Don't run with root priviledges. Image and container lifecycle matters - come up with a way to manage your container ecosystem. Need I say more? Dan discussed COW filesystems and some of the optinos here: Also showed a cool demo of a Docker registry that could share the images via NFS or other shared filesystems. So you could access your container content without having to do a "docker pull". That's pretty cool. Next up was "System Containers". Dan talked about lack of container priority, how systemd handles this and how it's a natural fit.
Keep your eye out for skopeo which is a container management tool. Simple signing came up next. Think signing for rpm. It's all about image provenance. During the container basics section Honza started at the beginning and showed building images from the inception of a Dockerfile which included best practices such as cleaning layers of the image that make "dnf install" calls. He also mentioned squashing images - creating an image with one commit layer using the docker-squash I hadn't seen this package.
Honza also discussed s2i Source to Image which allows you to build containers from source code. Next he discussed "System Containers" which is a phrase he is using to describe containers running on a system that are managed by systemd which can be accomplished via the "atomic" command. Honza concluded with a discussion of "Tools Containers" which are used to provide a mechanism to work with other images think mongodb and mongodb tools , the "atomic" command for working with SPC containers, flatpak and building infrastructure. A couple of sessions that I didn't get to attend but wanted to: What's New?
Plenty of great sessions to see at Flock. I'm looking forward to day 2. Lightening Talk. Tonight ends with a organized walking tour of Krakow. Busy day, informative day. Chromium in Fedora. If you haven't noticed Chromium is available in the official repositories: Thank you Spot for Packaging it. Found a bug?
File a ticket. There's some caching going on here. If you expect something and don't see it, check back in 5 minutes. You may get sources for the current running code from these repositories:. Tripleo Heat Templates allow the deployer to customize the controller deployment by setting values in the controllerExtraConfig section of the stack configuration. What I did is ran quickstart once, through to completion, to make sure everything worked, then tore down the overcloud like this:.
So one of the things that I really really hated about the current crop of SPAM on Fedora was that it completely lacked any originality or usefulness. The pages were usually hundreds of repeating lines saying something like: My first guess was that these are either used as landing text pages for some sort of malware to pop up some sub-section of the webpage as a problem alert. However that made less and less sense in that the pages did not seem to have any encoding for the malware to say 'this is the string to use today'.
It also didn't make sense in that it was clear that this was being inserted many times by a cut and paste versus program insertion someone would double paste the text into a web page but with the text intermingled. Sure enough there was a pattern of various search engines that seemed to be triggered shortly after a set of webpages were created. Most of the searches that I found through the webpage logs were either for google.

Especially if the page you are looking at is NOT for the product you are looking for. Repeat after me: For actual QuickBooks support go to https: Thank you. Tuesday started bright and early with breakfast at the hotel. A reasonable selection of breakfast goods and the staple of flock: Then it was time for the first keynote: Some nice numbers here and a few nice questions on other nmbers that would be good to gather.
I knew most of this before, but it was a really nice overview of the parts and how they fit together. This talk gave me a nice list of questions to feed into our infrastructure workshop later when designing mirrorlist containers. Lunch was again in the hotel, and was just fine. Lots of discussion with various people on various topics.

After lunch I went to the state of the Fedora server talk. Since I am in the Server working group I knew this discussion ahead of time, but it was good to be there to help the others giving the talk. There were some good suggestions from the audience, especially mentioning a ansible based replacement for rolekit. Final talk for me of the day was the kernel talk. This time given by Laura Abbott. A great talk to point new contributors to, and some nice questions. Finally the day ended with an absolutely wonderful dinner at Restauracja Pod Baranem.
Very good food and company. Prototypes In preparation for the flock next week, I tried to improve the prototypes and my Js code. The progress so far has been:. Currently bodhi redirects users to koji for downloading update packages. Would you prefer bodhi to link directly to the package instead of redirecting to koji?
Would a Bugzilla update widget like the shown below in the mockup would be useful? Old version and the new version given below. While giving karma, have you ever used the middle option as shown in the figure below? While checking for release updates, how useful was this tab shown below: Please refer to the tab version. So far I am brainstorming about the question no 5; I need to think in terms of how the user would be using the widget.
For this purpose, I aim to ask at least developers and testers about the download widget. The developer that I talked to on Friday was saying he does not have the need for it in the web UI. Even though he does not use the CLI interface. He is fine by using the koji website for downloading the packages. However, the testers that I have approached were very keen on having the download option in the web UI itself.
So far I feel it will be useful to talk to more people about the option and get their general opinion on the widgets usefulness.

Fedora Community Blog: Getting started with Fedora QA Part 3. What is a test case? To begin, usually any test case will have a list of required packages on the wiki page for you to install. Check and make sure you have all the packages installed. Follow the steps outlined in the test case for what you need to do. In the case of Nmap, we run a few commands and try pulling up the front-end, Zenmap.
I was able to open it and it performed as expected. One required test was to check if results would be successfully exported to a XML file.
