You probably haven't given permission to see the files. Go to the File Sharing Service, find the folder you want to share and click the pencil to edit it. On that screen make sure the permissions are set to read and write for the groups or people you want to have access. If you want access outside of VPN you check the settings boxes below for "share with mac clients AFP " and they would have to use the go menu in finder to connect to the server I believe.

Jul 23, 1: Sep 13, 9: It's really helpful and I got my share folers to work. Obviously this is a bug and not a feature, so can Apple please fix this? It does seem like if you connect over VPN your computer should act as if it was on the network.

Although the tutorial ther is for lion server, there are some modifications in the osx server when it comes to vpn settings for iphone, but with some tenkering with profile managar you will find that it is much easiar than lion. Except of course when I lock my iphone and it goes to sleep, then the VPN connections drops off and I have to manually turn it on.
