Notepad for mac like windows

Editra for Mac is simple, free, open-source, highly configurable. All in all, it's my favorite Windows Notepad replacement for the Mac. I recommend Textmate , that works out-of-the-box just like notepad, plus you can activate if you wish more and more functions. Home Questions Tags Users Unanswered. Bondy 2, 2 16 I've been looking for this exact same thing for a long time, but no one seems to know any tool like this. I don't need multi-file editing, rich text, HTML or code editing, colors or anything at all.

I just want a plain Notepad-like app that will open any file without fuss and show it in any font I choose. There seems to be no such thing. One thing I miss is being able to open ANY file inside windows notepad.

Like I could take a. In TextEdit it tells me that the file is not a supported type. It's NOT a general text editor! It's a little notepad with pages that flip when you click in the lower left corner--it's such an old standby in the Apple Menu that I'm surprised no one else uses it. It may seem silly, but I really love using it as a, well, notepad.

It's easier and more flexible than a basic text editor for writing down passwords, odd bits of info, etc. Also, I tried installing Omnipad, got an error message, tried to uninstall it and the uninstaller apparently didn't work.

I used to use it a lot for pasting interesting links or contact numbers, and would get pissed at the 8-page limit. IIRC you could just rename the old one and a new Notepad was automatically created for you. No Windows equivalent, eh? That's really too bad. Ginger Rat, in case you use Notepad again, it doesn't have an 8-page limit. Simply choose New Page from the File menu and you can have as many pages as you want.
