I love it because having those colors that really go together are next to each other and I never would have thought to put certain colors together until they were depotted, so really it has helped me see the full potential of what I have and encourages me to try new looks. I've had one or two things crack on me that had to be re-pressed, but it's usually MUCH easier with singles.

A hair straightener and a sharp knife also help a ton. This is my fear. I don't touch anything. I always get so baffled when I see people depotting things. Me too. I already don't depot anything because I'm a big nerd about packaging design, but if there was one thing I would fight tooth and nail not to depot it would probably be lipstick. If so much of what I'm paying for is pretty packaging anyway, then why bother? For me, with lipstick, it's just easiest to use out of the tube. If it's depotted, then you have to use and wash a brush? No, thank you. Plus then it's not as portable.

I understand for being a makeup artist and all That'd be much cheaper anyway Depotting any lipstick Mac and above should be a felony. He may have done that due to him being a makeup artist though. I'm not a fan of depotting any of my other makeup though because I have space to store everything on my vanity, can easily find what I need thanks to decent organisational skills, and like stuff to be in its original packaging because that's part of the attraction. I stalked eBay for months to find the Mac eyeshadows I wanted for my palette for really cheap and depotted them instead of buying the pans. Yeah I only depot eyeshadow singles to then put into a palette with actual spots for the shadows as opposed to a Z Palette. I am one of those weird people that keep the original box packaging with the makeup.

I find it to be the whole package deal and it is extra protection for any traveling mishaps. I can't even imagine depotting any of my palettes. I have 2 boxes of boxes that I keep even though I'll probably never need them. Even things like concealer and foundation I keep the boxes.

I like keeping the original box packaging too! Only thing is the "box packaging" has to be slim and compact which most HE products are. I honestly didn't even know that depotting was something anybody did until I began to lurk on this sub-- at least, nobody that I've ever known in real life seems to do it. I don't like to depot unless I just like one or two colours in a palette. Like if I've had a palette a while and I realise I only use a couple colours I'll depot those and give the rest of the colours to a friend. Otherwise I like to have everything in its own home. I will pretty much depot anything if it means I will get to use it more, but there is a NARS blush palette I know will stay in its original packaging until it's gone.
