Review by Backpain on Feb 19, Version: JohnnyBob's comment below assigns blame for coincident events to VirtualCloneDrive.
The other ill effects he attributes to VCD are almost certainly caused by whatever caused the issue with the physical DVD drive which in all likelihood had NO firmware problem but was affected by e.

He has a computer problem, but it has nothing to do with VCD. Review by Inspector. Gadget on Feb 18, Version: All OS: Some time later I noticed it had not uninstalled correctly because the virtual drive still appeared in Windows Explorer. Unfortunately it was too late to use a System Restore so I had to google and try various methods to remove it. Turns out this is a common problem.
I tried all available suggested methods but could not get rid of the virtual drive in Windows Explorer. It disappeared temporarily but always came back after restarting computer. What finally worked sort-of was to reinstall Virtual Clone Drive then use the provided uninstaller to uninstall it immediately. It would not work to use the uninstall operation from Add or Remove Programs panel. Then it uninstalled and no longer appears in Windows Explorer, but I have noted two after-effects: Looks like I may have to reflash it, if that's possible?

Ditch those old discs! How to mount an ISO in Windows and OS X
There are only two reasons why I leave reviews: I can honestly say that this is the first time I have felt ripped off by an OS X developer. In short, this software does not work for long. I downloaded the demo and that proved stable and functional. However, when I purchased the license, the app stopped working after about a week and reverted to the nag of "Buy Now" or "Quit" in the drop down menu.
I contacted the developer who advised that I must have downloaded an "old" version I had previously downloaded directly from their website. Reinstalled the app and that resolved the problem for about two days this time. Several re-installations later and the app just doesn't work. Very disappointing! I've given up and written it off completely. Login or create an account to post a review. The posting of advertisements, profanity, or personal attacks is prohibited.

From BurningThumb Software: It uses a disk image, but appears to Mac OS X as if you have inserted a CD, so you can read from it and burn to it even if you don't have a CD drive, but 10 times faster. Easy to use, it appears in the menu bar and then you can mount and read any Virtual CD or use the Virtual CD burner from the drop-down menu. Use it with music converter software instead of using a physical CD because a Virtual CD burner is 10x faster.
