I dug around in the app and its using wineskin, which makes me think its possible to install mods, like the high rez texture pack and rebirth mods.

So far I've had no luck however in trying to install them. Following the instructions seems to have borked my install. Anyone have any suggestions or guides on how to do this on Mac? Is it possible at all? No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply.

It worked for me. I downloaded ss2tool. It ran under WINE. It'll ask for the directory where shock2. You can safely ignore this and the installation will finish. Now you can drop any mods into the DataPermMods folder!

I installed all the mods from the SS2 newbie modding guide and they work like a charm. I'm running Mac OS X Make sure SS2Tool can connect to the internet. Dnleong any specific things you did so that it worked? I can verify that Ss2tool does indeed work in wineskin as I was using it before GOG made an official release of it. The blue mod manager can work too, but I had to install the Vcruntime dlls manually as its installer fails. MGoran you sure there was no error that popped up?

Posted June 21, MGoran, this might be a dumb question but you're sure you have Administrator access to write into the System Shock 2. Painted portraits may have a stronger association with games in the fantasy setting or the character design of early adventures, so they may seem a bit unfitting in a scifi game. Though I never had an issue with the drawn portraits in System Shock 2. They worked in favour of the cyberpunk style world, in my opinion. But in SS1's case, they went for the more realistic, photo approach.

Gives the game it's own unique style artistically.

I think hacking the higher resources out would be more viable. Some more comparisons, just to show the cool title screens and a Mac screenshot with correct gamma. I looked into this sometime ago. It would be nice to at least have the high-res assets.
