Screen sharing mac mini without monitor

What matters is whether or not the job can be done and the quality of the job. When it comes to work and computers, a computer is a computer is a computer is a computer. Sure, for personal use I have my preferences and tend to stick to them, but for work I look for whatever does the job. That's primarily because few other people want to support those systems. I happen to like them. I've been working with Apple since the mid '80s. Along the way I've discovered several other OSs and used them on a wide range of PCs, mobiles, and whatever else could run them.

So what I think you need to do is scrap this idea and make a real project out of it. It seems like there is a legitimate need to implement something that you're not currently doing. You and your executive need to have as many sessions as it takes to determine what that need actually is.

Then you need to figure out what existing solutions could fill this need. In scenario 1, you can still share files over the network like you would with any other computer i. You wouldn't be using the screen share functionality to transfer files, like you would if you were using TeamViewer.

The built in macOS utilities screen sharing and file sharing are separate entities. With respect to 2, you could do that, but that seems very unnecessary when the built-in functionality would work just fine. Honestly I don't think 3 should even be considered. You utilize Target Disk Mode by connecting the two computers via Thunderbolt, but I don't think that will solve your manager's problem. More crucially than all of this, I don't see how this setup would provide any real redundancy. That is the most simple and sensible one. Utilizing the Mini in this scenario adds unnecessary complications to his work flow.

Network file sharing is still potentially useful here, but I'd still recommend relocating that data to a central file server or simply moving it to the new external drive. Don't forget about backups! He already needs a monitor and keyboard for the Mac mini.

Hi there, I received a request from one of my manager, that he wants to connect Mac Mini to MacBook Pro and his idea is something like one screen two computers.     • Not sure why it would be different as it is just a VNC client in theory. BayouTiger , May 30, I've experienced something similar from a mac laptop into Mac Pro in the past, whilst I was able remote into an old iMac G5 and other mac laptops from the same mac laptop without any issues at all.

      I could actually experience the problem without any apps running on the Mac Pro - for example I was able to see it whilst using the Mac Pro finder to copy files around. It was a while ago and it didn't cause me a big enough problem to investigate fully, but because it was a relatively powerful desktop I pretty much decided it was unlikely to be CPU or Memory. The above not helpful I know - so some other unstructured thoughts; Not sure if your laptop is Windows or Mac?

      If both Mac then open Console app on both machines and try to correlate slowdowns with specific activities on either machine. You can use the timestamps to look after the fact, if the slowdown prevents you checking immediately. If laptop is windows then presumably you're using some VNC app - might be worth trying another to rule out incompatibilities?

      I don't know if there's a Windows equivalent to Console but if there is -it might be worth monitoring there. I'm not sure 2G RAM is necessarily a problem - suspect it depends on a lot of things.

      Maybe run the Mini with only your music app or no app at all running to try to rule out memory issues - monitoring the Minis usage - see below. As an alternate you could maybe install something like Menu Meters - you can monitor RAM, CPU, Network etc from menu bar in real time - still need to look at Activity monitor for the detail though. Is it possible that when your TV is fully off that the Mini 'cant tell' its connected to a screen?
